What is a sports medicine chiropractor? Both chiropractors in our office have additional training in sports medicine that allows us to manage more than back and neck pain. We have knowledge of the mechanism of injury involved in athletic events and the possible joints, muscles, ligaments and bones that can be the source of symptoms. The sports medicine chiropractor training can benefit athletic patients and non-athletic patients alike. Sports rehabilitation can help patients get back to activities they may be limiting or restricting more quickly. Some of the most common sports injuries that we see in our office include: rotator cuff tears, patellar tendonitis, golfer’s/tennis elbow and ankle sprains. Sports injuries can come from a variety of musculoskeletal sources, and non athletes can still benefit from a sports medicine approach. We always recommend making an appointment for any new onset spinal or extremity pain as well as for re-aggravations of previous symptoms to properly diagnose the underlying cause and to determine the most appropriate treatment.
